“I meant to do my work today
But a brown bird sang in the apple tree
And a butterfly flitted across the field
And all the leaves were calling me.”

I don’t have a green thumb, but I love flowers. I don’t have a garden, but I appreciate the artistry of gardeners who know each bloom by name and how to create the conditions each plant needs to grow.
Like flowers, creativity needs open spaces and attention in order to flourish.Read More
Friday is here, finally. It’s been a storm-tossed week that blew most of my to-do lists out the window.
This morning I’ll imagine sitting by a lake as I reflect and try again.

April is in bloom. As the last patches of snow melt, I’m thinking about how to plant ideas and create conditions to help them flourish. I’m envisioning paper and fabric florals in my art journal, on wall canvas, and on quilted mug rugs, placemats, and table runners.
If you’re like me, getting started is a challenge. Say hello to….Read More
This week in the studio I’ve been splashing color on blank mini canvases, watercolor paper, and art journal pages. Piles of colorful backgrounds made with inks, paints, and colored pencils are spilled across the table.
How can I add layers to create story art from these beginnings?
How can I make something that will make me smile and think spring as I wait for warm breezes, fresh cut grass, garden blooms, and the farmer’s market?
What are my favorite memories and moments of spring?
Dare to face a blank canvas or blank page.
Splash color on it with ink, pencils, markers, fabric, paint - whatever medium you choose.
Add spring inspiration with florals, words, and/or quotes.
Be inspired to create in courage and in joy.Read More
Need a little bit of Monday morning inspiration? I know I do.
I’m starting my day with a blank canvas, or two, or ten.
I will be splashing color on mini canvases, art journal pages, tags, and cards.
If I DARE to want less WINTER and more SPRING, I’m gonna have to bring it - to my craft table.Read More

Grandma was a maker. She baked. She sewed. She crocheted.
Doilies adorned every shelf and table. They showcased every potted plant, lamp. and vase.
Grandma was a planner. She created BIG days. She brought a quilt-factor to ordinary moments: homemade, wrapped-in-warmth, and treasured.
I remember days with grandma.Read More

Stamping with friends….
It’s a wonderful day in the studio, just me, the cat, Lorelei, Rory, and Snow Buddies.
I’m stamping and stitching and painting as I binge watch Gilmore Girls. This show just gets me. And because there’s so much dialogue, it’s almost like listening to a radio show while I craft.
Snow Buddies arrived. Insert happy dance. Want to see what I’m making?Read More
