Where Inspiration Blooms

I don’t have a green thumb, but I love flowers. I don’t have a garden, but I appreciate the artistry of gardeners who know each bloom by name and how to create the conditions each plant needs to grow.

Like flowers, creativity needs open spaces and attention in order to flourish.

Seed Ideas

I’m always looking for inspiration. I collect with the intent to create, literally filling digital folders and paper notebooks with seed ideas.

This week, little pink petals in a stock photo drew me in.

Hopping Down the Wonder Trail

If you want to create, you have to take hikes down unplanned paths. It’s not a waste of time or a lack of productivity. It’s an essential part of the process.

Sometimes, I need to remind myself to make time for exploring. It’s when I try to skip this part of the process that my energy, enthusiasm, and creativity wilt.

Over the weekend, I happily hopped…

I hope you’re inspired to learn more about these sweet blooms, too.

Not all those who wander are lost.

Wondering and wandering led to this week’s inCourage Me Monday Color Palette.

Set the Table

One of the ways to go from inspiration to productive creativity is to set the table. Just like planning a party, place trays and baskets of themed supplies on your craft table. Do some prep work ahead of time: stamping images, die cutting shapes, painting backgrounds, cutting fabric.

Set your table for a week of Sweet-William-inspired projects. What fabric colors and patterns are in your stash? Fat Quarter Shop has a great selection and some collections are on sale. It’s a great place to wander and explore. What inks, stamps, and dies will help your creativity grow? Gina K. Designs and Honey Bee Stamps have new releases to check out. I’m still finding DOTS of inspiration everywhere. Having too many ideas, supplies, and projects is a good thing for a Monday, right?
