Plan for Play

Friday is here, finally. It’s been a storm-tossed week that blew most of my to-do lists out the window.

This morning I’ll imagine sitting by a lake as I reflect and try again.

Calm waters.

Sun glistening.

Birds singing.

Rita writing…

Breathe, just breathe.

And then….it’s time to bake up new projects.

Something fun. Something sweet.

Not too big. Not too small.

Collecting my thoughts...and supplies

If I want next week to be better, I must do some prep work.

I’ve got DOTS of ideas.

I’ve got DOTS of fabric, circles, rings, bubbles.

Oh, the possibilities!

Her teacher smiled. “Just make a mark and see where it takes you.”

Art class is over, but Vashti sits glued to her chair in front of a blank piece of paper. Her teacher’s words are a gentle invitation to express herself. But Vashti can’t draw - she’s no artist. To prove her point, she jabs at the paper to make an unremarkable angry mark. “There!” she says.

Through a simple story and illustrations, Peter H. Reynolds invites each of us to make a mark — and follow it wherever it goes.

That one little dot marks the beginning...

Inspiration on my craft table…

I’ve gathered inspiration, tools, and supplies to start making marks, connecting dots, and exploring where they’ll lead. It’s fun prepping Make-Me bags filled with die cuts, stamps, sketches, swatches, and more. Whenever I have project bags ready, it’s easier to get started. The links are not only a peek at supplies I’ve gathered, they’re also clues to projects I’ll be sharing.

Happy Friday! What’s on your craft table?
