"My focus word (or is it a guidance word) for 2018 is Flourish. I want to flourish this year, and I want to help others flourish, and I want to do things with a flourish." - Sally Murphy, author of over 40 children's books, poet, educator
Take a look at this gorgeous fabric collection on my craft table today. It's called Flourish and it was designed by Natalia Bonner & Kathleen Whiting for Moda Fabrics. From the name, to the colors, to the prints, this collection is inspiration personified.
The calming shades of gray, red, teal, and green had me at hello, but the line designs, inspirational words, alphabet prints, apple core, checker patterns, and tiny plaids made Flourish a must-have for me. I simply love everything about it.
It's so pretty that I almost hate to cut it up, but visions of mug rugs, mini quilts, and framed wall art are dancing in my head.
Here's the photo I'm using for inspiration as I design ideas for everyday and holiday mug rugs. Just imagine a My-One-Word mug rug with Flourish on a sentiment panel. Comfort and Joy would be perfect for a holiday gift set.
Where to start? Hmmm...the red checkers fabric and a sentiment panel from the You are Loved collection will be the first cuts of the day.

I also included "Pearl Verses the World," a wonderful book by Sally Murphy that is a must-read for anyone who knows how hard it can be to flourish.
From Amazon: "In a lyrical novel told with clear-eyed sympathy, humor, and heart, Sally Murphy follows a girl who holds fast to her individuality even as she learns to let go— and in daring to share her voice, discovers that maybe she’s not a group of one after all."
