Make Cross-Stitch Ornaments with Lori Holt

What do you do when you catch a cold and are useless in the studio?

Sip lemon tea and check out what other makers are making.

I popped over to the Fat Quarter Shop blog and look what I found (and couldn’t wait to share):

“Lori Holt and It’s Sew Emma are at it again! Just in time for the Christmas season, Lori Holt has created a new cross stitch pattern, Vintage Christmas Sampler. This Christmas-inspired sampler is filled with everyone’s favorite holiday sights — candy canes, gingerbread men and a gingerbread house, stockings, an ornament and Santa Claus. If a few of the blocks look familiar, you’re right – they are from Lori’s Vintage Christmas Book.”

Be sure to visit their blog. The photos of all the Vintage Christmas projects are beautiful. The cross-stitched ornaments are my favorite. Kimberly Jolly and Lori Holt shared a video:

Sew cute! Sew easy!

I’m ready to start stitching. I just need a few supplies:

Sew Along on Lori’s Blog

You might also want to check out Lori Holt’s Blog for her Vintage Christmas Sew Along. As a new quilter, I’m still learning so much from experts like Lori. I especially love her appliqué tools, tips, and techniques.

Sew Grateful and Inspired

Not only do I want to cross-stitch all those adorable ornaments, it’s inspired me to think about using the Winter Song sentiment panels as pillow ornaments. It might be fun to cross stitch on one side and sew the sentiment panel on the back. I’m also plotting ways to make drawstring bags with cross stitch, patchwork, and sentiment panels.

Thankful for makers, like Lori and Kimberly, who inspire me to try new techniques.

I’ve rounded up products for the Vintage Christmas projects. I also included my favorite Lori Holt tools. Because not all items may be in stock, I put in other options. Happy shopping!
